St. Ignace
Wes and Dorothy Pechta of Brevort Lake have left for their winter home in Palm Desert, California, where they enjoy the warmer temperatures. They live near their daughter and son-inlaw, Sue and Kurt Ney, and granddaughter, Hailey. They arrived in time to celebrate Hailey’s 13th birthday.
Happy wedding anniversary to Glenn and Bonnie Flinn October 27.
Arlene Eby will soon leave for a visit at her son, David’s, home. She will then go to her winter home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Bob and Rose Nelson have left for their winter home in Arizona.
Marge Bekins will celebrate her 50th birthday October 29. She is well known by her friends as “Turtle Woman.” Happy birthday, Marge.
Philma Leazier, a lifetime resident of St. Ignace, said she remembers taking a radio in the 1950s to Millard Smith’s shop on Cheeseman Road. In minutes it was in working condition and the charge was $1 or $2.
LaSalle High School National Honor Society sponsored an American Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, October 20, collecting 38 pints of blood. Nurse Freda Holley prepares St. Ignace senior Dana Schieding to give blood. The NHS collected a total of 38 pints of blood.

Peg and Skip Jarman attended their grandson’s wedding in Belleville. Charles and Jill Guisgard were married Saturday, October 17. A dinner was enjoyed at a local restaurant.
Morgan LaVake, daughter of Darren and Samantha LaVake, qualified as a sectional winner for her age group in the punt, pass, and kick competition. She advanced to the finals, which will be Sunday, November 22, at Ford Field in Detroit.
David Blair celebrated his birthday Tuesday, October 20, with his parents, Ed Blair and Miriam Blair. Other family members attending were Dan Blair, Diane Huskey, Dawn and Dustin Wilcox, Tabitha Blair, and Trevor Blair.
Get well wishes to Helen Hyslop, who is recovering from recent surgery.
Traveling to St. Ignace to attend the memorial service Saturday, October 24, for their aunt, Hazel Decker, were Michelle Friend of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Shannon Lemmon of Denver, Colorado, Mike Smith of Grand Rapids, Sandy and Shelby Kirchoff of Negaunee, and Wesley and Debbie Therrian and son, Josh, of Whitewater, Wisconsin. Also attending the service were her son, Jim McMillan, of Davison, her husband, Joe Decker, of Woodland, Pennsylvania, Eldon McMillan of Onaway, and Joy and Tim Gulick of Portland.
