Curtis Kleynenberg, 37, from downstate Michigan was killed in a rollover accident on US-2 east of Borgstrom Road in Hudson Township, Friday, October 23, at 3:40 p.m.

A series of 9-1-1 calls reported the vehicle was traveling westbound on US-2 in a reckless manner. The vehicle then attempted to pass and lost control, running off the side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned several times before coming to a rest on a stretch of sandy beach near the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The investigation of the traffic crash continues. Alcohol has been determined as a factor in the crash, the Mackinac County Sheriff’s office reported.
