St. Ignace Police Chief Tim Matelski Retires
St. Ignace Police Chief Tim Matelski announced his retirement from the police department in a letter to City Council Monday, October 19. In the letter, he stated that his last day would be December 31, 2009.
Mr. Matelski, a 1973 LaSalle High School graduate, has served 32 years at the St. Ignace Police Department, the last 23 as the police chief.
City Manager Eric Dodson announced this at the City Council's Monday, October 19 meeting, and said the city would begin searching for a replacement.
All potential candidates would need to be interviewed by City Council, which has the authority to hire department heads, including the city's police chief.
