Students Celebrate Soldiers’ Homecoming
Sixth and seventh grade students listen to Sergeant Karen Moses and Lieutenant Commander Brian Cahill, both LaSalle High School graduates, during their visit to the middle school Wednesday, October 14. The two St. Ignace residents spoke about their experiences serving domestically and overseas in the military. The students asked the two soldiers questions about weaponry, places they have visited, exercise, weather, and food. Sgt. Moses serves in the U.S. Army and has served in Iraq. LCDR Cahill visited the school to mark his retirement after 23 years of military service and three years in Iraq. Teacher Mandi Johnson, who began writing Mr. Cahill in the U.S. Marine Corps when she was in second grade, encouraged her sixth-grade students to continue the correspondence last year. On this visit, he thanked the students for their letters. - Login to post comments
