Linda Ruth Pearson, 63, of Cedarville, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.
She was born March 29, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Wilbur and Lucille (nee Heck) Baker.
She grew up in West Milton, Ohio, and following high school graduation, she attended I.B.M. School. She went to work for Anchor Hocking in Ohio and went on to work at several other jobs before meeting her present husband, Robert.
They were married in Springfield, Illinois, March 19, 1969. They moved to a ranch in Nebraska, but soon returned to Ohio, where she managed two clothing stores and became a jewelry distributor for Caroline Emmones Jewelry. In 1980, they moved to Cedarville and have lived there ever since. Mrs. Pearson worked at Cedar Pantry, The Channel Marker, Cedarville Inn, Kewadin Shores Casino in St. Ignace, and she worked with her husband operating Bob's Bait and Tackle.
Mrs. Pearson enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always active, friends said, painting ceramics, boating, fishing, cooking, and refinishing furniture. She bowled for many years in a league, including several years with her daughter. She was an excellent trap shooter. She loved animals, especially horses. She operated the bait shop until her illness in February of this year.
Mrs. Pearson is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Pearson; five children and their families, Debra and Robert Brandstrom of St. Ignace, J. Michael and Sandra McMaken of Cedarville, Michael and Amanda Pearson of West Milton, Marcell and David Eshleman of West Milton, and Michelle and Tom Shepard of Englewood, Ohio. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and their families, Alex McMaken, Abby Mc- Maken, Patrick McMaken, Justin Benson, Tyler Snyder, Mitchell Snyder, Brooke Brandstrom, James and Heidi Pearson, Kristina Pearson, Robert and Jen Pearson, Shane Eshleman, Matthew Eshleman, Bradley Daniels, and Brian Daniels; six great-grandchildren, Caleb Pearson, Noah Pearson, Hannah Pearson, Mason Schisler, Denver Pearson, and Landon Pearson, and one brother and his family, Jim and Lynn Baker of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Visitation was Friday, October 23, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Myers celebrant. Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville.
