Joseph ‘Joe Joe’ Campbell Joseph “Joe Joe” Matthew Campbell, 50, of St. Ignace, died Sunday, October 25, 2009.

He was born January 18, 1959, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Gerald W. Campbell and Grace M. (nee Schmidt) Campbell.

Both parents predeceased him.

Mr. Campbell was always known for his characteristic sweet smile and funny antics. He spent most of his life as a resident of the Santiago Adult Foster Care home in St. Ignace, where his fellow residents and care givers were like family to him. He made his challenges look easy, his caregivers said, and lived with grace and a kind, caring spirit.

He is survived by two siblings and their families, Margaret and Robert Tipsword of Traverse City, and Gerald Scott Campbell of Sault Ste. Marie; two nieces, Christina Tipsword of Modesto, California, and Ashlee Tipsword of St. Joseph. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins in lower Michigan and the Portland, Oregon, area.

A luncheon and celebration of his life will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in the spring.
