Eagles, Bays Share EUPC V-ball Crown

Leah Blanchard Engadine Leah Blanchard Engadine The Engadine Eagles and the Brimley Bays shared the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference championship with 7-1 records after De- Tour forfeited the final league match with Engadine and Brimley defeated the Cedarville Trojans 25-10, 22-25, 25-20, and 25- 20 Thursday, October 29.

Bays statistics: Ellen Routhier, 32 assists, five aces, four digs; Stephanie Lynn, 10 kills, four aces; Jessica Graham, nine kills, five aces; Jessica Noyce, eight kills, five digs; Whitney Frazier, seven kills; Lynnette Carrick, three kills, two blocks.

"I am very happy with the intensity girls are playing heading into the districts," said Bays Coach Rhonda Amble. "We are co-champs in the EUPC and all the girls played well all season."

"We wanted to play DeTour, but we didn't have the final say. We are co-champs with Brimley," said Eagles Coach Kathy Miller.

The Engadine Eagles lost the first match 20-25 before posting 25-19, 25-13, and 25-21 road victories over the Pickford Panthers Monday, October 19.

"We started out slow after not practicing for a week due to illness," said Eagles Coach Kathy Miller.

Matches Before Losing

The St. Ignace Saints took the Brimley Bays to five matches before falling 25-21, 11-25, 25-22, 20-25, and 12-15 during a non-conference contest on the Bays’ home court Tuesday, October 27.

"Everyone contributed with a balanced effort," said Bays Coach Rhonda Amble. "St. Ignace has improved since early in the season and tonight reminded me of the old days when every match against the Saints was a fight to the end."

Season With 1-9 Mark at SAC

The St. Ignace Saints volleyball team completed the regular season with a 1-9 mark at the Straits Area Conference (SAC) meet at Cheboygan Saturday, October 31.

The Saints split with Rogers City 25-20, 15-25 and lost to Rudyard 19-25, 23-25, Newberry 22-25, 20- 25, Sault Ste. Marie 19-25, 18-25, and Cheboygan 19-25, 9-25.

The Saints were without the services of Katy LaTour and Amber St. Andrew for the SAC tourney, owing to illness.
