A reception for Bill and Sandy Roach is planned for Thursday, November 12, at 7 p.m. at the Engadine Library to show apprecition for the paper recycling project to benefit the library. If you are able to bring ookies to share, it would be appreciated. Punch will be provided.

There will be an all-you-can-eat hunters supper Saturday, November 14, at 4 p.m. at the Columbus Township Hall in McMillan. The meal is sponsored by the McMillan United Methodist Church.

There will be a "Dagwaagi 2009 Jiibay Spirit/Ghost Feast" Tuesday, November 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Newberry Tribal Health Center at 4935 Zeez- Ba-Tik in Newberry. This is a time for the community to come together to honor relatives who have passed away. In memory of your loved one and all ancestors of Behweting, you are asked to prepare your loved one's favorite dish to share. For more information, contact Michelle McKechnie at (906) 495-1450.

The "1 to 1 Reading Program" will begin Wednesday, November 11, and will continue each Wednesday from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the Engadine library. Each adult will listen to a second grade and third grade student reading a book of the child's choice, then watch them take a reading quiz on the computer. Adults do not have to commit to being there every week, but are asked to sign up if they’re going to be there the next week so the teachers know how many students to send to the library each time. A donkey basketball game will be Friday, November 13, at 7 p.m. at Engadine Consolidated Schools.

Tot Time, a free play group for children younger than five, is held at the Luce County Community Resource and Recreation Center every Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children must be accompanied by a parent or care giver. For more information, call Susan Jewell at (906) 293-3938.

Engadine Consolidated Schools will have pare nt-teacher conferences Thursday, November 19, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
