Lenoir, Olsen Are LaSalle’s Students of the Month for October

Eric Lenoir Eric Lenoir Eric Lenoir and Kristen Olsen were named Students of the Month for October at LaSalle High School.

Eric Lenoir

Eric Lenoir, the son of Joe and Janice Lenoir, is a senior with a 3.947 grade point average based on a four-point scale. Throughout high school, Mr. Lenoir has taken a college preparatory curriculum. His current schedule includes Honors English, physics, anatomy, calculus, advanced physical education, and advanced placement micro and macro economics. He is a mentor for a middle school student. His favorite subject is mathematics.

“My most influential teachers have been my parents for all that they have taught me, and all that I’ve learned from them,” Mr. Lenoir said.

As a youth he has lived in many different communities, moving with his parents, who serve in the United States Coast Guard. During his elementary years, he was home schooled by his parents.

Kristen Olsen Kristen Olsen Academic qualities, along with character, service, and leadership, resulted in his selection to the National Honor Society last year. He was selected to serve as the National Honor Society president and as class treasurer.

In addition to academics, he is active in both school and community activities. He has been on the cross country, track, and wrestling teams. He enjoys volunteering his time to help all of the team coaches. This fall he plans to help with the National Honor Red Cross Blood Drive and the Halloween community food drive.

He is a member of the Glen Memorial Baptist Church and the Saints Alive Youth Group. He volunteers his talents on Sunday mornings, playing bass guitar in the Sunday morning services

He plans to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy next year.

Kristen Olsen

Senior Kristen Olsen is the daughter of Brian and Trudy Olsen. Miss Olsen has a 3.923 grade point average based on a four-point scale. Throughout high school, she has taken a college preparatory curriculum. Her current schedule includes Honors English, calculus, senior modern history, advanced placement psychology, and advanced physical education. She is also a mentor for a student in the elementary school.

She has been active in extra curricular athletics. She is a four-sport letter winner, winning letters on the basketball team, the track team, the cross country team, and the dance team. Athletic honors include most improved in basketball, most valuable player in track, and the David Frazier workhorse award.

Miss Olsen has been the recipient of various year-end classroom awards.

Academic achievement, along with character, service, and leadership resulted in her selection to the National Honor Society last year. One of the reasons she was selected to the National Honor Society was because she gives of her time to community projects. This fall she will be helping with the National Honor Red Cross Blood Drive and the Halloween community food drive. She serves as both the secretary of the National Honor Society and the secretary of the Student Council.

“I can’t name just one teacher [as a favorite] because I have had so many amazing teachers throughout school,” said Miss Olsen.

In the summer months when not working at BC Pizza or helping her parents with their lawn mowing service, she works at basketball camps, or spends time with her friends.

She plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University next fall. Her goal is to major in either elementary education or school psychology.
