St. Ignace
A few homes have Christmas lights to brighten up their evenings. Riding through town after dinner you will see the lampposts glowing with color.
There was an open house to introduce a new building addition Sunday, November 8, at the Mackinac County Animal Shelter on Cheeseman Road. The new addition is a happy area for kittens and cats of all sizes and colors, who enjoy all sorts of exercise there. Adoptions have been steady, the shelter reports.
Mackinac Animal Aid reports its fundraising calendars are available for sale at the county animal shelter for $12 each, with proceeds going to the homeless animals. People submitted favorite pet photographs for the calendar, and the winning entries presented in it are photographs by Bill and Suzy Ogle, Melanie Norburn, Mike and Sheri Gould, Dave Black, Andy and Ginger Valentine, Debbie Durm, the Champion family, Kate Otstot, Rebecah and Haillee Brown, Zach Gould and Jonna Hall, the Mike and Tricia Gamble family, and George and Jo Ford. These calendars are a favorite with local animal lovers.

Jennie Hart is doing well. Her grandson, Robbie McLean, gathered apples so she could bake her delicious pies. Apples are in abundance this fall.
Mary Jane Ryerse and her daughter, Jackie Laver, drove to Sault Ste. Marie last week. Ms. Ryerse is looking forward to her birthday party in December.
“Bargains by the Shore” is a new business in our town. Sean Pincombe, general manager, has set up shop at 368 North State Street downtown.

Clara and Ervin Prevost, along with their son, Charlie Prevost, of East Jordan are camping in the St. Ignace area for a hunting season adventure.
Nathyn Thompson, a 2008 LaSalle High School graduate, poses with his mother, Kim North, before the Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday, November 11, at the St. Ignace Middle School gymnasium. Mr. Thompson is being deployed to Iraq from Sault Ste. Marie November 20.
