Citizens Say: Raise Local School Taxes
      St. Ignace Area Schools should pursue a property tax to fund its technology, busing, and energy needs in the wake of state funding cuts, a citizens advisory committee decided at a meeting at the St. Ignace Middle School library Wednesday, November 11. It was the first meeting of the community group, convened to help guide the school board.

Remains Found at Island Dig Site
      Human skeletal remains were uncovered just west of the Indian Dormitory on Mackinac Island Wednesday, November 4, during trenching work to add a new water line to the building. The remains, thought to be Indian, were secured until work was finished and then reburied at the site.

Judge Finds Probable Cause for 16 Charges
      Alleged hit and run driver Dustan Bowen, 28, of Sanford, was bound over to 11th Circuit Court in Mackinac County Friday, November 13, where Judge William Carmody will take up the 16-count felony case at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 19.
