Laurie Kelleghan Laurie Kelleghan Laurie Ann “Koko” Kelleghan, 52, of DeTour, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born June 20, 1957, in Detroit.

She grew up in Lapeer, and attended Lapeer Public Schools. She also attended Mott College.

She loved art. She was accomplished, as an artist, at skills that included oil painting and carving a bear out of a tree with a chainsaw, friends said. Ms. Kelleghan designed Native American ceremonial gowns and liked to create drawings of Native Americans in traditional clothing. She enjoyed attending local pow wows, and sometimes would trave to Arizona to her native Apache tribe. She was a member of the San Carlos Apache Nation.

Ms. Kelleghan loved the outdoors and was an avid angler and hunter. She made her living as a chef and an artist.

She especially loved spending time with her children.

She is survived by two daughters, Casey Kelleghan and Jesse Kelleghan of DeTour, and a son, Valjean Sadda LaTour of Hessel; her birth mother, Eula Sadda “Penny Roberts,” and a grandson, Jordan Gower. She is also survived by two sisters, Christine Bickle of Montrose, and Renee Bucula of Flint, and a close friend, Lynn McGregor of DeTour.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Kelleghan, in 2005; a son, Jason Loomis Dixon; her father, William Bickle, and her mother, Gladys Bickle.

Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeTour Saturday, November 21, with Father George Vaniyepurackal officiating. A private family memorial service will be held in Montrose later this fall.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
