The greens were hung at Trinity Lutheran Church Saturday, November 28, in celebration of the Advent season. Joyce Gustafson, Pega Kennedy, and Sharon Smith, with the help of Morgan Gustafson and her friend, Hannah, decorated the Christmas tree. There are hurricane lamps with candles on each windowsill and the first candle on the Advent wreath was lighted at the Sunday morning service November 29 under the leadership of Pastor George Kaiser.

Trinity council members will meet at 4:30 pm Thursday, December 3, at the parish hall in Brevort.

Sally Conklin spent the weekend at the Conklin condo. She called on Dave, Tracy, and me Sunday evening.

Steve and Carol Orlando and their daughter, Jesse, spent the Thanksgiving holiday with Carol’s parents, Jim and Ann Dyer. They left after church for the 10-hour drive back to Dayton, Ohio. It’s always good to see the “kids” come home.

Larry and Mary Ann First welcome their eighth great-grandchild this past week. Andy and Jamie Laponsie of Waterford are the prod parents of a son. Congratulations to all

Dottie Glashaw spent the Thanksgiving holiday with the Jewell family of St. Louis, Michigan. Theresa and Derrick Jewell attended a football game while grandmother was there to care for her granddaughters, Jenna and Nicole. Everyone then attended a production of the “Nutcracker Suite” at Michigan State University.

John Kennedy is home from a Cheboygan hunting camp, with no venison for the freezer.

Tom and Joyce Gustafson, Ken and Sharon Smith, Pega and John Kennedy, Mike and Lara Gustafson, Morgan and Kristi Gustafson, Mary Beth and Fred Jasmund, and Jeff and Becky Siegel all enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner in Sault Ste. Marie Thursday.

Sean and Janice O’Boyle, and Kyle, Katelyn, and Lawrence O’Boyle joined Janice’s mother in Harrison for the holiday this past weekend.

The Roger family, Jim, Jackie, Levi, Jessie, and Wilder were guests of the Matson family of Worth Road for Thanksgiving. On Sunday the Rogers drove to Dafter to visit with Jim’s father. It was Jessie Roger’s birthday. Happy birthday, Jessie.

Mike and Helena Shepard and family had Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Jack and Thora Shepard and Lee Foster. The weekend offered another chance for hunting from the Shepard deer camp near Hessel.

Mark and Joan Spencer hosted their family for dinner Thursday. Tammy Spencer, Candy and Bob Humphrey with Jessie, Jennie and Matt of Traverse City, and Brenda and Mark Spencer attended.

Susie and Russ Nesberg joined Sandy Sharp for a Saturday night Thanksgiving dinner. Susie and Russ are going to decorate the Whitetail Restaurant for the first time with Christmas decorations. Tom and Joyce Gustafson have lights up, as do Mary Carney and Warren Cunningham, Kathy Reid and Bob Jarzinka, and Larry and Mary Ann First, all on the corner of Worth and Schoolhouse Road.

The Clearwater Resort site is now a leveled field of sand. Bulldozers are putting the final touches on it this Monday morning. The big Clearwater sign went down last week a lot quicker than it went up those many years ago.

Happy birthday to Charlie Movalson December 2, Lydia LaLonde December 3, Joyce Gustafson and Holly Engen December 4. Happy anniversary to Carol and Lynn Binger December 4, and to Jim and Jerri Rose December 10.
