DeTour
Thanksgiving is behind us and we’re all rushing toward the Christmas holidays. To enjoy some leisurely holiday shopping and entertainment, be sure to spend at least part of Saturday, December 5, at Village Christmas. The children will have a great time at Breakfast With Santa from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Fisher’s Restaurant. The DeTour Passage Historical Society, co-sponsors of the event with Fisher’s, have purchased some great prizes. After breakfast the Friends of the Library will sponsor a Santa’s workshop in the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Friends will provide craft projects for youngsters and include a story time with Mrs. Claus. For adults, there will be crafts for sale in the school multipurpose room from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cinnamon rolls at the parents’ group Field Trip Café in the Raider Room. The Chamber of Commerce horse trolley will be available to take participants from the school to the shops on Ontario Street and to the bazaar, quilt show, and soup luncheon at the Union Presbyterian Church. Ontario Street merchants will offer specials and raffle drawings. Visitors will listen to the carols sung by the Community Choir. They will perform at locations throughout the village from late morning to early afternoon.
The DeTour Passage Historical Society will have a pancake breakfast Sunday, December 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Village Hall. All proceeds will support the museum and its restoration efforts.
