What great weather we had the last week of November. Many folks traveled to share Thanksgiving with their loved ones.

Natalie Forstyek of Taylor was in town over the weekend visiting with her mother, Kim Welch.

Enjoying Thanksgiving dinner together at the VFW Hall in St. Ignace were Dora Hiser, her daughter, Ruth MacGregor, of Eastpointe, and a friend, Richard Klonowski, of Detroit. Ms. Hiser is now 92 years old.

Morgan LaVake of St. Ignace took first place in thepunt-pass-kick competition in her age division for the entire state. Great job, Morgan. A related article is published in the sports pages of this issue.

The St. Ignace Holiday Open House will be Friday, December 4, with music at 5 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will arrive at 6 p.m., when the city Christmas tree is lit. Children may mail letters to Santa at City Hall through Wednesday, December 16.

I had a pleasant visit with Donna Harju last week. She has been busy with family and enjoys socializing over coffee at Community Action Agency.

Bill Demmon of Gwinn visited with his mother, Teresa Downey, of St. Ignace.

Jim Siren of Nevada and his brother, Montie Siren, traveled to their hometown of St. Ignace last week. While here they stopped at the home of Jim and Hilda Ryerse.

There will be a pancake breakfast Sunday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mackinac Grille restaurant in St. Ignace. Proceeds will benefit the Mackinac County Children’s Toy Drive. New toys will be accepted.

Garth and Julie Law have a most beautifully decorated tree for the holiday season. Take an evening ride through town and along North State Street and enjoy many more holiday lights aglow.

Joan (nee Tarnutzer) McClelland of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, attended the funeral for Eva Grondin Friday, November 20, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace.
