Edwin Tominack
Edwin “Mark” Tominack, 86, of DeTour Village, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at his home.
He was born October 2, 1923, in Goetzville to Mike and Blanche (nee Denelski) Tominack.
Mr. Tominack attended school in Goetzville and DeTour and served in the United States Army Office of Strategic Service in England and France during World War II.
He married Pauline LaPoint July 20, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeTour.
Mr. Tominack worked at Drummond Dolomite Quarry for 30 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Bender-Johnson Amvets Post #79 in Raber, and the Elks Lodge #552 in Sault Ste. Marie.
He enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandson, Nathan Loveless of Eaton Rapids.
He loved snowmobiling and he and Mrs. Tominack owned a cabin on St. Joseph Island, Canada, where they spent much of the winter for nearly 30 years. The couple also enjoyed dancing at area Polka Festivals.
In addition to his wife and grandson, Mr. Tominack is survived by a daughter and her family, Nancy and James Gloden of Crystal; four sisters and their families, Anna Prevost of Clinton Township, Georgene and Roy Mion of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, Jackie and Wilbert Wojnaroski of Gaylord, and Sharon and Larry Russell of Lansing; a brother and his family, Ron and Velma Benson of Harbor Springs, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Virginia Wojnaroski, and two brothers, Dan Tominack and Jack Benson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeTour Village, with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in DeTour Township.
Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford is assisting the family with arrangements.
