Roy Ahola Roy Ahola Roy Raymond Ahola Sr., 62, of Kincheloe, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.

He was born December 2, 1946, in Sault Ste. Marie, the son of John Jacob and Ila Pearl (nee Wonnacott) Ahola. Mr. Ahola grew up in Dafter and Pickford.

He lived and worked in Lansing for 15 years. He worked at Dana Corporation, which forged steel for the automotive industry. Since then, Mr. Ahola has lived in Grand Rapids, Holland, Michigan, and most recently Kincheloe. He was a hard worker who took pride in a job well done, friends said. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and enjoyed bowling and working on cars.

He is survived by one son, Roy Raymond Ahola Jr. of Wyoming, Michigan; two daughters, Melissa Streetman of Grand Rapids and Beverly Ahola of Kincheloe, and two grandchildren, Helen Streetman and Taylor Jayemeeker. Also surviving are his sister and caregiver and her family, Mary and Temple Laux Sr. of Kincheloe; one brother and his family, John and Merrilee Ahola Sr. of Lansing, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beatrice Polaczyk and Gladys Smith.

Services were Monday, November 30, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a funeral at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in Kinross Township Lakeview Cemetery. John Keith, Russell Keith, Temple Laux Jr., Kenny Ahola, John Ahola Jr., and Raymond Donnal were pallbearers.
