Christine Lou Lavanway, 56, of Hessel, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, January 15, 1953.

She was graduated from East Jordan High School. Ms. Lavanway enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking, but most of all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. She collected items pertaining to lighthouses.

She is survived by her companion, John Gee of Hessel; two sons, Brian Lavanway of North Carolina, and Michael Lavanway of Sault Ste. Marie; a daughter and her husband, Sue and Randy Burley of Sault Ste. Marie; two step-daughters, Melissa Gee of Johannesburg, and Tammy Gee of Ferndale; seven grandchildren, Montana, Cody, Stephanie, Hunter, Cory, R.J., and Alleysha. She is also survived by nine siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Lavanway was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Soderquist, and a sister, Diane Soderquist.

A memorial will be held at a later date.
