Munising Invite
St. Ignace and Gladstone each posted 4-1 records during the Munising Mustangs Wrestling Invitational, but the Saints took home the championship on total points Saturday, December 5.
The Saints defeated Munising 60-24, Manistique 57-24, Gwinn 72-12, and Ishpeming 48-36 and lost to Gladstone 45-33. The Braves’ setback came at the hands of Ishpeming.
"I am pleased with the outcome," said Saints Coach Harvey Bentley. "Everyone who wrestled stepped up and performed well."

Three freshmen, Joey Ostman (171), Richard Bentley (119), and Dakota McLennan (112), recorded 5- 0 records to lift the Saints to the tourney crown.
Posting 4-1 records was John Evashevski (145), Dan St. Onge (152), Galloway Thurston (160), Robert Sayles (189), Louie Radecki (135), and William Pechta (125).

Dylan Brown (130) went 3-2, Cody Swagger (140) 2-2, Billy Bentgen (103) 2-3, and Joey Krause (135) 1-1. In junior varsity matches, Wyatt Orm (171) was 1-1 and Levi Thompson (125) 0-1.
The Saints will entertain Petoskey, Rogers City, and Manistique at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, and host the 31st Annual Lions Invitational Saturday, December 12, with the opening matches scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Split Season Opener at Alpena The St. Ignace Saints wrestling team split its season opener at Alpena, defeating the host Wildcats 41-36 before falling to the Gaylord Blue Devils 54-14 Wednesday, December 2.
Three Saints grapplers went 2-0, senior John Evashevski in the (140/135) weight classes, Richard Bentley (119), and Galloway Thurston (160).
Dakota McLennan St. Ignace
Finishing 1-1 were Billy Bentgen (103), Louie Radecki (130), Cody Swagger (135/140), Dan St. Onge (152), Joey Ostman (171), and Robert Sayles (189) and Joe Krause (145) was 0-1. St. Ignace was open in the 112, 215, and heavyweight divisions.

Dual Match Victories
The Rudyard Bulldogs opened the season with victories over the host Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils 48-30 and the Cheboygan Chiefs 37-23 during a tri-match Wednesday, December 2.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs and Coach Tim Spencer with 2-0 records were Jake Perry (125-130), Gene Carie (130), Tyler Mayer (135), Tyler Griffith (140), Chad Mesnard (145), and Brock Lewis (152). Posting 1-1 records were Kyle Brodein (119), Andrew Kaminski (171), and Jamie Lordson (189).
