Funding Comes Through for Wastewater Plant
Mackinac Island Eligible for $10.3 Million
      Mackinac Island is eligible for more than $10.3 million in loans and grants to repair its wastewater treatment facility. The funding would cover the entire estimated cost of the Island's two-phase project designed to increase the life expectancy of the wastewater plant by 30 years.

Mackinaw City Receives Property Donation
      The Mackinaw City Planning Commission will be reduced from nine members to seven members following the approval of a new planning commission ordinance by the Mackinaw City Village Council Thursday, December 3. The village council also accepted the donation of the alleyway behind Mackinaw Clothing and approved the purchase of a new fire truck and air packs.

Ambulance Garage Put on Hold at Hospital Site
      Construction on an ambulance garage at the new hospital being built on North State Street in St. Ignace has been postponed while Mackinac Straits Hospital continues seeking funds. The hospital has secured about $165,000 of the estimated $500,000 needed for the design and construction.

Outdoor Seating Proposal OKd at Restaurant
      Outdoor seating will expand a Mackinac Island restaurant, converting previous retail space into a covered dining area on Hoban Street. The project received approval during the Tuesday, December 8, Planning Commission meeting and will add 44 seats to Goodfellows, a restaurant in the Lakeview Hotel.
