Still Time To Get Food Baskets
The Moose Lodge is still taking names of families who would benefit from their Christmas food basket program this year. Ken Hardy, one of the organizers, said baskets will be delivered Saturday, December 19.
The boxes contain a 12- to 14- pound frozen turkey, five pounds of potatoes, three pounds of apples, cans of sweet corn and beans, cookies made by the middle school students, and plenty more.
"We're even throwing in eggs, bacon, butter, and bread this year," Mr. Hardy said.
About 90 families are on the list so far, he noted, the names submitted from state social service agencies or called in directly to the Moose Lodge.
Readers who know of a lowincome family who could use the holiday gift can submit their name to the Moose Lodge in St. Ignace at 643-8785.
