Bayliss Library Presents Refugee Program Jan. 7

Bayliss Public Library will present “Emigrating from Burma to the Sault: a Presentation about Our Karen Neighbors,” Thursday, January 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the library in Sault Ste. Marie.

The program is about the Karen (pronounced Ku Ren') refugees from Thailand and Burma, who have recently come to live in Sault Ste. Marie. The program will feature the 30- minute documentary "Don't Fence Me In," as well as a selection of their stories as told to local author Leslie Askwith. A new book of their stories, recipes, and photographs will be unveiled.

A basic computer class for beginners will be offered Thursday, January 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the library. Participants must register in advance by calling (906) 632- 9331 or stopping by the library. It is open to the first 10 people to sign up.
