College-bound students and their parents are invited to attend the annual college financial aid awareness meeting Tuesday, January 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the Newberry School cafeteria. A Lake Superior State University financial aid office representative will present information about applying for college scholarshipos and loans. For more information, call the Newberry High School Guidance Office at 293-3243.

Music in the Erickson Center in Curtis will feature Will and Ann Rowland Saturday, January 9, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for a $5 donation.

The United Methodist Church will have a pasty sale Wednesday, January 13, and Thursday, January 14, at the church on North Cedar Street in Manistique. To order, call 341-6662.

There will be a chili cook-off Saturday, January 16, at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Manistique. There will be 50/50 raffles, silent auction, and live music from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple.

A breakfast buffet will be Sunday, January 10, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the St. Francis de Sales Parish Center in Manistique. The buffet is open to the public. A free-will donation will be accepted, with proceeds to benefit the school.

The Curtis Women's Club quilting project meets Fridays, January 8, January 15, January 22, and January 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the community center in Curtis. For more information, call Becky at (906) 586-3685.
