Engadine Consolidated Schools

HOME OF THE EAGLES•KNOWLEDGE LETS YOU SOAR
by Angie McArthur Superintendent

Every school district in Michigan is required to have a School Improvement Plan to address areas that directly impact teaching and learning, school leadership, and continuous school improvement. The process of school improvement reaches across all areas of the district. These plans must be updated every three years. Part of the process is a comprehensive needs assessment, which Engadine Consolidated Schools is beginning at this time. We will be surveying parents, students, community members, and staff about the school.

Five areas we will be addressing in our comprehensive needs assessment are: teaching for learning; leadership; personnel and professional learning; school and community relations, and data and information management.

Please help us to best identify our needs by returning the surveys when you receive one, and give us your honest feedback. We appreciate your participation.

We’d also like your participation in our Community Budget Discussion Wednesday, January 13, at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. Anyone interested in the future of Engadine Consolidated Schools is invited to attend. We want to present the facts of school funding, take a look at the budget projections, and get your ideas and answer any questions. Please put this on your calendar and make every effort to attend.

The first semester ends Friday, January 22, with a noon dismissal. Exams will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of that week. Report cards will be sent home the following week. Remember to use Parent Connect to see how your student is doing academically and behaviorally. For questions about assignments or grades, contact the child’s teacher.

Have a great week and we hope to see you January 13.

Students of the Week:

Christine Fan, Shae Taylor

Christine Fan and Shae Taylor are the Students of the Week at Engadine Consolidated School for the week of January 4.

Christine Fan is Engadine's exchange student from Taiwan, and is enjoying her time at Engadine High as a junior. Biology is her favorite subject. As she looks toward the future, Miss Fan is interested in the New York Film Academy. Dance and photography are activities she enjoys and she is interested in a career in photography.

She likes the summer time best, and she enjoys spending time on a jet ski. She enjoys listening to Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, reading the “Twilight” sagas, and watching movies.

She believes she can help make the school a better place by helping others if they are in need. She is the daughter of Peter Fan and Angela Chen.

Shae Taylor, the daughter of Halyn and Ken Taylor of Curtis, is the Engadine Middle School Student of the week. As an eighth grade student, Miss Taylor was chosen for her determination and positive attitude.

This year she has been arriving to class prepared to work and ready to do her best on all assignments, her teachers report, and she has a pleasant sense of humor that is enjoyed by both students and teachers. She is always polite.

In her spare time she enjoys being with her friends, dirt bike riding, volleyball, and school activities. She plans to attend college.
