Brevort

By Lois Movalson 292-5581

Wolf stories abound in this area. As Tracy and I were turning into our driveway one evening last week, a lone wolf darted out from between the house and garage, crossed Fisherman’s Drive, then US-2, and went on up Schoolhouse Road. It was a large animal and as he ran by the picket fence we could compare his size. The tracks were deep and large.

Mary Carney reports large tracks around her compost pile in back of her garden.

Larry First and his grandson, Levi Rogers, were hunting rabbits this past weekend north of Brevort. Larry has those wonderful hare hunting hounds and wouldn’t like to lose one. They noticed wolf tracks following the dog tracks. Larry was on snowshoes and couldn’t make much headway, but Levi took off on a run through the snow and literally tacked the hound while the wolf was 10 yards off at the edge of the woods watching. Levi was the hero of the day.
