Hello, everyone. If cabin fever is getting the best of you, try to get out and enjoy some of the happenings in our area.
The diabetic support group will meet Thursday, January 14, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Huron Conference room at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry. A program will be presented by Lynn Kihm and Marli Carlson. Lunch will be provided.
There will be a preschool story time Saturday, January 16, at the Engadine Library, for children age two to school age. Children age two and younger are invited to the Engadine Library Saturday, January 23, at 11 a.m. for an infant and toddler play group and story time.
There will be a chili cook-off Saturday, January 16, at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Manistique.
Everyone is welcome to the Manistique Lions Club all-youcan eat pancake brunch Sunday, January 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the community building in Curtis.
The General Federated Women's Club in Newberry will meet Tuesday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at the Newberry Assisted Living Community. Members will play bingo with the residents. A short business meeting will follow the games and refreshments. Members may bring cookies for refreshments.
Special Olympics Snowmobile Run and EUP Winter Games will be Thursday, January 21, at 3 p.m. at the Newberry Eagles Club, hosted by the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Newberry. Hulbert Haulers, who support EUP Special Olympics, will be in attendance to cheer on and give snowmobile rides to the athletes.
The family of Vides King will host an open house Saturday afternoon, January 23, in celebration of her 90th birthday, at the Naubinway Pavilion building.
The cancer support group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Webber and Dever offices in the basement of the Pathways Building in Newberry.
All college-bound students and their parents are invited to attend a college financial aid awareness meeting Tuesday, January 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Tahquamenon Area Schools. A Lake Superior State University financial aid office representative will present information.

Condolences to the family of Archie "Rob" Hutchinson, Sr., 63, a longtime resident of McMillan, who passed away at his home Monday, January 4. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
