Census Jobs Soon Available in U.P.
Local workers are sought to gather information for the 2010 United States Census, which will be conducted in April.
Most of the 800 to 1,000 Upper Peninsula positions available will focus on following-up on households that do not mail back their Census survey information. Several townships in the Eastern Upper Peninsula, such as Brevort and Moran, are allowing the Census Bureau to use their town halls and community centers for testing potential local employees in the collection effort.
Most of the positions will pay $11.25 per hour plus mileage and will last for six to eight weeks. Applications will be accepted in January and February. The bureau hopes to fill most of the positions by the end of February.
Those interested in applying can call the Ishpeming office at (906) 464-6236 and schedule an appointment.
