A subcommittee consisting of Luce, Mackinac, Alger, and Schoolcraft Health Department board members was formed to address Mackinac County's proposed split from the four-county department during the health board meeting in Newberry Monday, January 4. Two Luce County representatives, one Schoolcraft County representative, and one Alger County representative will serve on the subcommittee. They are LMAS board chair Nancy Morrison and Rita Lemanek from Luce, Vice Chair George Ecclesine from Schoolcraft, and Esley Mattson from Alger. The subcommittee will work with Mackinac County members, LMAS Health Officer Nick Derusha said.

Mackinac County commissioners have not formed a subcommittee to address the issue, and have not set a time when they will, Mackinac County Clerk Mary Kay Tamlyn said. No meetings between the two groups have been scheduled.
