Archie ‘Rob’ Hutchinson, Sr.

Archie "Rob" R. Hutchinson, Sr., 63, a longtime resident of McMillan, died at his home under the care of his niece and Northwoods Home Health and Hospice Monday, January 4, 2010.

Born April 27, 1946, in Lapeer, he was a son of Archie H. and Pearl M. (nee Almas) Hutchinson.

Mr. Hutchinson grew up in the Lapeer area and attended Millington schools. He held several jobs in his life, first working for General Motors and later working as a woodsman. He was most recently self-employed in auto body refinishing and restoring.

In 1965, Mr. Hutchinson married Linda Cole in Attica.

He was a member of Gould City Eagles Aerie 4483. He enjoyed hunting, flower and vegetable gardening, country music, and western movies, and was accomplished at building birdhouses. Mr. Hutchinson donated these birdhouses to area charities for their fundraising efforts.

He is survived by five children and their families, Mark Hutchinson and Nathan Isaacs of Marshall, Sherry and Dennis Salter of Gould City, Archie "Rob" and Gretchen Hutchinson, Jr. of Naubinway, Jody "Joe" Hutchinson of Newberry, and John Hutchinson and Nancy Cain of Lansing. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother and his family, Harold and Jill of Newberry, and his sister, Helen Wilson of McMillan.

Preceding him in death are his parents, an infant daughter, Tara Lynn, four sisters, and one brother.

Services were Thursday, January 7, at noon at the First Baptist Church of Newberry with Pastor Andrew Manwarren officiating. Friends gathered at the church from 10 a.m. until noon. Interment will be in East Lakefield Township Cemetery.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry assisted the family with arrangements.
