Ellen and Bob Berry enjoyed cross-country skiing in Marquette last week. They also drove to Mackinaw City Saturday, January 16, for Winterfest activities.

Dot Glashaw entertained her friend, Sandy Price, of Grand Rapids. They also attended Winterfest in Mackinaw City. Sandy left for Grand Rapids early Sunday morning, January 17.

Pega Kennedy, Joyce Gustafson, Sharon Chalmers, and Beatrice Zak drove to Paradise.

The Trinity Lutheran Church lunches, led by Pega Kennedy, will begin Friday, January 22, at noon. Everyone is welcome. A donation will be taken at the door. Trinity is on Fisherman’s Drive in Brevort.

Susie and Russ Nesberg are doing some painting at their restaurant this week. Because of the limited snow amounts, there isn’t a lot of snowmobile traffic through the village.

Kathy Reid reports she has quite a flock of snow buntings. Other birds at the feeders are European grackles, Canadian blue jays, chickadees, a few finches, woodpeckers, and one redheaded woodpecker.

It’s that time of the year already, when one begins to think of tapping the sugar maples and gathering the sap for that good maple syrup. Jim and Jackie Rogers are already gathering the equipment, to be ready as soon as the weather turns.

Jim Rose and Rick Weiss were in Harbor Springs this past weekend.

Thora Shepard will have hip replacement surgery at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City this week. Please keep her in your prayers.

Jack and Thora Shepard enjoyed a chicken dinner Saturday, January 16, sponsored by the Trout Lake Women’s Club.

Family members gathered at the home of Sally and Leonard Valentine Tuesday, January 12, to honor Thora Shepard in celebration of her 65th birthday. Lee Foster and Sally organized the surprise party. A good time was had by all.

Happy birthday to Levi Rogers January 23, Shelby Lasley January 28, Melissa Foster January 29, and our niece, Debbie Berry, January 30.
