Local Agencies Taking Part in Volunteer Offer
Local volunteers this year will have the opportunity to trade a day of community service for one-day admission to a theme park at Disneyland Resort in California or Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Local organizations taking part in the drive include St. Ignace Area Hope, Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians' Maagwejig Satellite Volunteer Centers in St. Ignace, Kincheloe, and Sault Ste. Marie, United Way of the EUP, Youth Volunteer Corps, Lake Superior State University's volunteer center, and Chippewa County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council.
St. Ignace Area Hope, which runs the Hope Chest thrift store and the Hope Hotline, will be offering volunteer days from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday. Volunteers are also welcome to contact the store at 643- 7360 to set up alternate times.
Other volunteer opportunities in the area include work in child care, maintenance, publicity, mailing, and youth work. Those interested in earning a free pass must first register through Disney's Web site at www.disneyparks.disney.go.com. More information can also be found by contacting one of the participating local organizations.
