Chamber of Commerce Will Continue Arts Dockside
The St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, along with many others, recognizes the importance of the Arts Dockside event in this community and the need to continue the tradition. As in most events, challenges and circumstances present themselves, sometimes making it necessary to change past practices. The important thing is that we meet these challenges head on, work out solutions, and do what is best for this community. Canceling this event is not an option, so the work begins on how to carry on this successful event. The positive economic impact to our community through such events is often overshadowed by inconveniences or problems that arise; however, the truth is that the immediate and trickle-down effect of an event like this is invaluable and irreplaceable.
The Chamber of Commerce realizes the importance of this event and has voted, at their recent board meeting, to start working on the logistics of how to help carry on this tradition. A successful event is driven by people who are passionate about the event. The success of an event comes with those people moving forward in cooperation with local government and a solidly committed volunteer base. The immediate effect on this community through all of the festivals is vital to the positive growth and spirit of our community.
The outgoing Arts Dockside Committee includes Jennifer Joseph, Jeanette O'Rourke, Ben Goudreau, Donna Pope, and Carol Mitchell. No one will ever know, as much as these and other volunteers, the time and commitment it takes to pull off an event like this.
