Five fire departments were recognized in resolutions adopted by the St. Ignace City Council Monday, January 18, for their work in extinguishing the fire at 398 North State Street Wednesday, January 6.

Fire departments from St. Ignace, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Brevort Township, and Clark Township were all on hand to fight the blaze in what used to be the OK Hotel. (See letter on page 2.)

Those present at Monday's meeting gave St. Ignace Fire Chief John "Bucky" Robinson a round of applause for his leadership of the cooperative effort and for putting out the fire without any loss of life or extensive damage to nearby buildings.

Mayor Grondin, Mr. Dodson, and Mr. Robinson plan to attend meetings at the other four communities to present the resolution of recognition to them personally.
