For the Record
In an article titled "Event Hall Proposed on Mackinac Bay" in the January 21 issue of The St. Ignace News, it was reported that the Clark Township Planning Commission re-zoned the portion of a property between Cedarville and Hessel to commercial zoning within 300 feet of M-134.
The Planning Commission actually made a recommendation to re-zone the area, which was forwarded to the Mackinac County Planning Commission for consideration. The planning commission has authority to make recommendations about rezoning, but the decision to approve or deny the request rests with the township board.
At the Mackinac County Planning Commission meeting Thursday, January 14, commissioners did not vote to either recommend or advise against the change, and instead sent Clark Township a letter stating that the change would be consistent with the township's master plan.
The decision to re-zone the portion of property will be considered by the Clark Township board for final approval.
