St. Ignace City Council Supports Off-road Vehicle Group’s Appeal
The City of St. Ignace officially supports the opening of off-road vehicle trails in Hiawatha National Forest, including along Castle Rock and Round Lake Roads, the city council stated in a resolution Monday, January 18.
The decision to support a recent decision by the Mackinac County Board of Commissioners was made after ORV users and area residents said they would fight the recent closure of trails in the area.
One of the reasons given for supporting the cause in the resolution, which was passed by Council with a unanimous vote, was that not having the trails open could negatively impact the tourism industry in the area.
