Charles Schroeder
Charles E. Schroeder, 81, of Naubinway, died Thursday evening January 21, 2010, at the Luce County Annex in Newberry.
He was born December 18, 1928, in Detroit to Charles and Minnie (nee Rashke) Schroeder.
Mr. Schroeder served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged March 2, 1953. He was employed as a quality control engineer at Ford Motor Company in Livonia for more than 27 years and, during this time, he was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Dearborn Heights.
He married his wife, Jean, June 29, 1962 in Westland.
A resident of Naubinway for the past 20 years, he was a member of the Engadine United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post in Engadine, and the Lions Club. His hobbies and interests included fishing, golfing, bowling, and horses.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children and their families, Diane Walters of Livonia, Nancy and Norman Price of Wayne, Beverly and Jim McCarson of Garden City, Charles and Tina Schroeder of Ypsilanti, Jean Schroeder of Taylor, and David Schroeder of Escadido, California; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two siblings and their families, Dorothy Kulow of Livonia and Edward and Alice Schroeder of Orange, California.
He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
Friends may call at Engadine United Methodist Church Thursday, January 28, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Saundra J. Clark officiating.
Memorials may be directed in his name to the Luce County Annex or the Engadine United Methodist Church.
Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family.
