Sweep Paradise
The Mackinac Island Lakers girls swept Paradise, defeating the host team 81-44 in a Northern Lights League (NLL) contest Friday, January 22, and downing the Rockets 53-44 during a non-conference match-up Saturday, January 23. The Lakers are undefeated in the league with a 6-0 record there, and a 9-2 overall record on the season.
The Lakers held a 37-30-halftime scoring edge before outscoring the Rockets 44-14 in the second half.
The Lakers used balanced scoring in the NLL game Friday, with five girls in double figures, led by Zhane Nash with a triple double that included 27 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 steals.

Split With Paradise
The Mackinac Island Lakers boys split with the Paradise Rockets, losing the Northern Lights League contest 58-57 Friday, January 22, but coming back to down the home Rockets 55-53 during a non-conference match-up Saturday, January 23.
The Lakers held a 11-10-scoring edge after the first eight minutes in the conference game before the Rockets held a 33-22 advantage in the combined second and third quarter to take a 43-33 lead into the final eight minutes.
Mackinac Island stormed back to cut the Paradise lead with a 24-15 advantage to one point, but the host Rockets hung on to post the win.

The Lakers opened the game with a 12-6 advantage after the first eight minutes. This time, Mackinac Island hung on for the two-point win after the Rockets held a 47-43-scoring edge in the final three quarters.
