The lack of snow has been hard on those who like to snowmobile and cross-country ski. The ice seems to be holding, however, with the cold nighttime temperatures. Condolences to the family of Julia Archambeau, lifelong resident of Engadine, who passed away Sunday, January 31. She was married 59 years to her husband, Raymond, and they have three children, Debra, James, and David. The Straits of Mackinac has floating ice, but a lot of open water. The nights are cold and crisp, but we continue to have breezy conditions, which are not good for ice formation. This is the 25th year of the Michigan Heritage Award program. It is designed to honor individuals and groups who have mastered a folk tradition and continue it with excellence and authenticity. More ... Max and Anja Mackie visited their son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Val, and children, Jacob and Hanna, in Manistique for Jacob’s birthday. Jacob turned six years old a couple of weeks ago, but recently again they had to go to a meeting in Manistique and Anja got to babysit little Hanna, who is four years old. More ... |
