Rudyard
Max and Anja Mackie visited their son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Val, and children, Jacob and Hanna, in Manistique for Jacob’s birthday. Jacob turned six years old a couple of weeks ago, but recently again they had to go to a meeting in Manistique and Anja got to babysit little Hanna, who is four years old. Hanna wanted her grandma to make her pancakes, and like all good grandmas, she made them for her. Hanna will celebrate her fifth birthday soon.
Kelly Kemp celebrated her 47th birthday Tuesday, January 12. Her brother, Larry, and sister-in-law, Jennifer, came from Eaton Rapids, and celebrated with approximately 37 people at a restaurant in St. Ignace. She received many gifts.
A surprise birthday party was held for Eugene Ross Saturday, January 23. Approximately 40 people attended the party at the home of his daughter, Gwen. He was tricked into coming to the party, where he received many gifts, but one that he will enjoy the most, a recliner, was from his children, Perry, Grant, Colleen, Cheryl, Brian, and Gwen.
Paul Rossi will be the speaker for the Rudyard Historical Society Thursday, February 11, at 7 p.m. at the Rudyard Community Center. He is a naturalist and bird photographer. The topic will be seasonal bird migration in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula. Mr. Rossi lives on the northern shore of Lake Huron near Cedarville, a good location for watching migratory birds. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Congratulations to Brock Lewis, a senior at Rudyard High School, who took first place in wrestling at the Upper Peninsula Tournament in Marquette Saturday, January 23.
The boys varsity basketball game Friday, January 29, between Rudyard and St. Ignace, was the most exciting game many of us have seen in awhile.
