St. Ignace

Thomas Wilk had planned to arrive in St. Ignace last week for snowmobiling, however, since we didn’t have much snow, he decided he will stay in Mississippi until a later date.

Jerry Horn continues to recuperate at his home in St. Ignace after his recent knee replacement surgery.

We are saddened to hear of Billy Milford not feeling well. Please keep him in your prayers.

Nona Raleigh of St. Ignace was a patient at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey recently. She is in good spirits and doing fine.

I had a short visit with Deetta Gladbach a few days ago and she still has her great sense of humor.

Happy birthday to Karen McMillan, Tommie Webster, and Phyllis Colegrove February 2, Bruce St. Louis February 5, Lily McLean and John Coveyou February 6, and Joan Vallier February 7. Wishing all of you a fun-filled day.

We are sorry to hear of Mary Edwards’ recent fall, which resulted in a hospital stay in Petoskey. Mary is now a patient at Mackinac Straits Hospital. If you wish to mail a card or note to Mary, her address is: 36 Spring Street, St. Ignace, Michigan 49781.

A graded vacant lot has replaced the St. Ignace downtown building destroyed by fire January 6. The building remains at 368 North State Street were torn down by Belonga Excavating Thursday, January 21. Lot owner Tom Briggs of St. Ignace said he is unsure if he will replace the structure. Ernie and Mary Lou Krause said they watched the demolition of the burned downtown building recently while recalling many memories. The building, operated as the OK Hotel years ago, was owned by Paul and Thelma Krause and then Lyle Krause, as reported in The St. Ignace News January 28.

Angel Food Ministries is a program to supply low-cost food to people in our area. Orders are due Tuesday, February 16, with delivery Saturday, February 27. Information is available at First National Bank North-Bay Branch.

It was good to see Rosemary Matelski out shopping with her son, Casimir, one day last week.
