The LaSalle High School Dance Troupe made its season debut during halftime of the St. Ignace/Pickford boys varsity basketball game Wednesday, January 27, and performed during courtwarming Friday, January 29.
Coach Rachel Byma, in her second year with the troupe, has a strong group of 16 dancers who have worked hard in preparation for the season.
Six girls return from last year, seniors Stephanie Damron, Christi Therrian, Samantha Radecki, and Kristen Olsen, and juniors Rachel Therrian and Lauren Winkelman.
First-year dancers are juniors Martina Beaudoin and Brooke Mattila, sophomores Taylor Becker, Alexa Thibault, and Amber Campbell, and freshmen Haillee Brown, Marina Brown, Shelby Litzner, Rachel Shampine, and Molly Sposito.
"The girls are having fun and have worked hard," said Mrs. Byma. "For having a blend of veteran and young dancers, the girls get along and that is important."
The music selected by Mrs. Byma included “Thriller,” “All Shook Up,” “Hoedown Throwdown,” and “Cotton Eyed Joe.”
“The variety of music selected is for the different generations of fans," said the coach.
The team practices in the high school gymnasium two days per week and will perform during selected boys basketball games, at the Night of Jazz concert, and at other activities. The school troupe is available to perform at events. Interested groups may contact Coach Byma for information at
