Harold ‘Jim’ Kerridge

Harold D. “Jim” Kerridge, 82, was a World War II veteran and foreman with the Mackinac County Road Commission for 32 years. Mr. Kerridge died Monday, February 1, 2010, at his Garnet home.

Born December 15, 1927, in Petoskey, he was the son of Chester and Julia (nee Snyder) Kerridge.

Mr. Kerridge served in the United States Army during World War II until his honorable discharge September 26, 1947. He was employed with the road commission, retiring as a foreman. He was a member of American Legion Post 74 of Newberry and a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling, and casino gaming.

He is survived by two stepchildren and their families, Keith and Donna Grogan and Karrie and Dan Sheber, all of St. Ignace; several step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; three siblings, Chester of Flint, Donald of Fennville, and Margie Weger of Garnet, and a sister-in-law, Ethel Kerridge of Garnet. Mr. Kerridge is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families, including Mike and Kim Kerridge of Garnet, Rick and Peggy Kerridge of Newberry, Nancy and Ralph Godfrey of Gladstone, and Ron and Jackie Weger of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane, who died May 11, 2000, and three siblings, Tom, Kenny, and Cecil Kerridge.

No public services are scheduled. Inurnment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Garnet.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family with arrangements.
