Susie and Russ Nesberg have observed a lot of wolf tracks around their home on Cut River Road. The coyotes have been howling during the evening.

Kathy Reid says the birds are not eating as much as usual, probably because they can find food owing to the scarce snow cover.

Gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder and a group of supporters stopped for lunch at Jeannie’s Reach CafĂ© this week while on their way to Marquette. Some of the group, with Mr. Snyder, will snowmobile to Escanaba.

Thora and Jack Shepard drove to Mackinaw City Saturday, February 6, Thora’s first outing since her hip surgery. There was a coyote sitting in their yard this past weekend.

Mark Spencer is busy skinning coyote pelts. There have been more pelts this year than most.

Congratulations to the St. Ignace PeeWee hockey league on winning the district tournament. Lara Gustafson’s nephew, Zak Lasley of Sault Ste. Marie, is a member of the team.

I had a nice chat Monday morning, February 8, with Rosie Masson, one of our newer neighbors. Rosie and Tony Masson of Adrian built the two-story home east of Brevort. Rosie spends most of her time here and Tony comes for long weekends. They entertain many family members and friends during the winter.

Sandy and Fred Feleppa with their children, Emma and Josh, spent Saturday, February 6, tubing at the home of a friend in Rudyard. Everyone had a great time.
