The Curtis Area Winter Carnival is Saturday, February 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on South Manistique Lake in Curtis. Enjoy dog sled rides, a chili cook-off, ice fishing, music, food booths, bake sale, children's games, cookie walk, children's pinata, ice golf, turkey bowling, a mini sled challenge, snow sculptures, and fireworks at dusk.

The 18th annual Top of the Lake Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride is Friday, February 19, and Saturday, February 20, in Naubinway. The Friday breakfast ride leaves Naubinway at 9 a.m. The Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food booths and a swap area set up. The Mike Maki Predator Challenge in Newberry is Friday, February 19, through Sunday, February 28. February 28, checkin will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion, with closing at 2 p.m. and prizes at 3 p.m. To register for the competition, call Chuck Johnson at (906) 293-3971. Proceeds benefit the Mike Maki Scholarship Fund.

The General Federated Women’s Club of Newberry will meet Tuesday, February 16, at 10 a.m. at the home of Eleanor Lane. A program on Bay Cliff Health Camp will be given by Sandy Caswell. Members are reminded that additional small toys and games are needed for gift bags to be given to the Diane Peppler Center, as well as stamps for veterans, "Box Tops for Education," and the bar codes from Campbell's Labels for Education.
