St. Ignace

We sure are having a mild winter, and the sun has been great lately.

A good time was enjoyed by approximately 34 Mackinac Straits Hospital Long Term Care residents and visitors Friday, January 29. Leeanne Lane of St. Ignace provided piano music, and Esther Murphy of Moran directed the singing. Gus Nelson of Lafayette, Louisiana, spent a week visiting friends in the St. Ignace area and staying with Charlie Lilliquist at Pte. LaBarbe. He especially enjoyed Charlie’s annual Super Bowl party and the New Orleans Saints’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Bob Lee reports that Alice and Don Howe are enjoying three months in Arizona.

It’s good to see Rex Hooper doing well.

Jonathon Robinson will celebrate his fifth birthday February 10. He is a student at Community Action Head Start.

Halsie Weiss drove to Sault Ste. Marie one day last week on business.

Supporters of the Mackinac County Animal Shelter will have a bake sale Sunday, February 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Glen’s Markets in St. Ignace. Baked goods may be donated. All proceeds will help homeless pets.

Howard Alkire is doing well.

St. Ignace residents attending the Blake Shelton concert Saturday, January 30, in Sault Ste. Marie included Dan and Mary Pope, Ed and Carol Lester, Shirley Therrian, Andrea Tamlyn, Arletta Pope, and Michelle Paquin.

Maryann McCarthy of Flushing is spending a week in St. Ignace with her parents, Louie and Phyllis Colegrove.
