For the Record
In an article entitled "Cedarville Plat Won't Be Rezoned" in the January 28 issue of The St. Ignace News, it was incorrectly reported that Clark Township Clerk Mike Miller provided the lone dissenting vote to a motion to deny the re-zoning of a plat of land on Weston Avenue to commercial.
Township Supervisor Gerald Hill also voted against the motion to deny. Those voting for denial of the re-zoning were Trustees Katie Carpenter, Gary Wellnitz, and Mike Lofdahl, and the motion to deny the re-zoning request passed by a vote of 3-2.
In the same article, it was reported that the planning commission said approving the re-zoning of a single piece of property along Weston Avenue would have been unfair "spot" zoning and instead suggested the township re-zone the entire plat, something they believed would be consistent with the township's master plan. Commissioners decided to recommend re-zoning of the entire plat and tabled the case for the individual parcel sought for rezoning by the Cedar Cove assisted living facility.
Under the subheading "De velopment Perspectives Ques tioned," it was reported that planning commissioners approved the re-zoning of a 300-foot-deep portion of property along M-134. The word "recommended" should have been used, instead of approved. The recommendation went to the Mack inac County Planning Com mission for consideration and will next go to the township board for consideration. The township board has the power of approval.
Under the subheading "DPW Raises," it was reported that the next scheduled meeting for the Clark Township board would be Thursday, February 11. The board actually meets on the third Thursday of each month. The next scheduled meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday, February 18.
