Goldie Schmidt, 82, of Newberry, died at the Luce County Annex Saturday, January 30, 2010.

She was born March 31, 1927, in Engadine to August and Pauline (nee Marcus) Henschel.

On April 26, 1946, she married Earl Schmidt at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rapinville. Together they owned and operated Schmidt Dairy Farm until his death.

At that time, Mrs. Schmidt moved to Newberry and began her employment with Aggie’s Airport Bar, where she worked for more than nine years.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3701 of Newberry, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 74 in Newberry. She enjoyed fishing and hunting.

She is survived by a sister, Ethel McGee of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and six siblings.

A graveside service for the family is planned at the Engadine Cemetery in the spring.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family with arrangements.
