Kathryn Brown
Kathryn Brown Kathryn Brown, 61, of St. Ignace, died Friday evening, February 5, 2010, at her home in St. Ignace Township.
She was born near Brevort Lake May 7, 1948, to Joseph and Louise (nee Luepnitz) Lowetz. She was one of 10 children born to the Lowetz family.
She was graduated from Rudyard High School, and married Ronald Brown March 12, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Church in Moran.
Mrs. Brown loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed feeding deer and birds, and picking berries. She was an avid gardener, and loved sewing. Mrs. Brown enjoyed visiting the casino early in the morning. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was active with the Hunters Dinners, baking, and other activities of the church.
Mrs. Brown worked as a housekeeper for several families, and for the White Birch Resort and Dodson Funeral Home. When diagnosed with cancer a year ago, family members said, her first concern was for those who relied on her housekeeping services.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; her mother, Louise Lowetz of Brevort Lake; four children and their families, Michael and Rhonda of Kincheloe, Senior Master Sergeant Michelle and John Lackey of Charleston, South Carolina, Christopher and Dawn of Moran, and Stacy Brandt of Moran; four sisters and their families, Rosemary Irwin, Dee and Joe Frazier, all of Brevort Lake, Lorraine and Arnold Frazier of Naubinway, Mary Lou and Tom Haas of Middletown, Ohio; five brothers and their families, Lloyd and Oralia Lowetz of Perrin, Texas, William Lowetz of Brevort Lake, Alfred and Hollene Lowetz of Lowell, Ray and Polly Lowetz of Brevort Lake, and Michael Lowetz of Dover, Delaware; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, who died in 1979; and a nephew, David Frazier, who died in 1980.
Visitation was Monday, February 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Services were Tuesday, February 9, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Pawel Mecwel officiating.
Pallbearers were her brothers and brothers-in-law.
