Kimberly Ann Curtis and Richard William Hanna were united in marriage Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Stalwart Presbyterian Church with Greg Ledy officiating. Music was provided by pianist Barbara Taylor.
The bride is the daughter of Paul and Luann Curtis of Pickford. The groom is the son of Brien and Beth Hanna, also of Pickford.
The bride wore a Charmeuse halter-style gown with ruched surplice bodice and beaded, embroidered waist. Her godet chapel train was adorned with beaded and embroidered appliqués and tied into 20 bustles. She wore a veil of ivory tulle made by her mother. She was given in marriage by her father, while she carried a ribbontied bouquet of white calla lilies and ivory roses.
The bride’s sisters, Michelle Curtis, Melissa Hagen, and Katrina Ledy, served as bridesmaids. They wore mocha-colored, floorlength gowns and carried ribbontied bouquets of miniature rustcolored calla lilies.
The groom and his attendants, with his father and the father of the bride, wore black suits with mocha-colored accessories.
Attending for the groom were Jared Hanna and Kurt Hanna, brothers of the groom. The bride’s brother, Nick Curtis, served as the usher.
The flower girl was Lydia Ledy of Pickford, a niece of the bride. Serving as the ring bearer was Evan McDermott of Spring Lake,
nephew of the groom.
Photographs of the wedding party were taken at the Hanna homestead on Hanna Road, originally settled in 1878 by the groom’s great-great-great-grandfather, who shared his name. Following the ceremony, a dinner reception was hosted at the Kennedy residence on Rocky Point, catered by Nancy Kelly of Pellston. Guests celebrated with the newlyweds under the harvest moon.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Pickford High School and a 2002 graduate of Michigan Technological University in Houghton with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in civil engineering. She earned a Master’s of Business Administration degree in 2006 at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, while attending as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Pickford High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is employed as a petroleum trader with High Sierra Energy in Denver, Colorado.
The couple will make their home in Denver, with plans to relocate to northern Michigan in the future.
