Hurons During Road Match-ups
The St. Ignace Saints held a six-point halftime lead, but had to go into overtime to down the Gaylord Blue Devils 84-74 during a road non-conference match-up Tuesday, February 2. The Saints posted a come-from-behind 67-64 road Straits Area Conference decision over the Rogers City Hurons Friday, February 5.
Saints Outlast Blue Devils
The Saints and Blue Devils were longtime opponents in the old Michigan Huron Shores Conference, but today Gaylord, a Class A school, is a member of the Big North Conference, while St. Ignace Class C is part of the Straits Area Conference.
St. Ignace led 17-12 after the first eight minutes and held a 19- 18-scoring edge in the second quarter for a 36-30-halftime advantage.
Ricky Gere Rudyard
Gaylord outscored St. Ignace 36-30 in the second half that included 19-17 in the third quarter and 17-13 in the final eight minutes to send the contest into a fourminute overtime period.
The Saints bounced back with a strong offensive effort, scoring 18 points while the defense held the Blue Devils to eight points to post the second win over Gaylord this season.

Saints Record Comeback Win
Scott Coffey (30) scored 13 points and added six rebounds in the Bulldogs’ win over Newberry Friday, February 5.
St. Ignace trailed by 14 points going into the fourth quarter before taking over the offense to outscore Rogers City 29-12 to post the win.
"We took control in the fourth quarter after trailing for the entire game," said Saints Coach Jason Marshall. "The team didn't quit and played strong down the stretch on the road. Mike Barthelemy has joined the team and started playing at Rogers City."
The Saints, 4-3 in the Straits Area Conference and 9-4 overall, trailed 52-38 after three quarters before outscoring the Hurons by 17 points as Austin St. Louis scored 14, Gerrit Mortensen added six, Cole Christiansen chipped in four, Kevin Guillard notched three, and Grant Simmons tallied two in the final eight minutes.
Rogers City held an 8-7-scoring edge after the first eight minutes and increased their lead to 32- 25 at halftime with a 24-18 advantage in the second quarter.
Mitchell Fultz Cedarville
The Hurons continued to dominate with a 20-13 margin to take the 14-point lead into the final eight minutes, but the Saints didn't quit and answered with a strong fourth quarter.

Face Chiefs in Key SAC Contest
The Rudyard Bulldogs improved to 6-1 in the Straits Area Conference (SAC) and 10-1 overall after defeating the Newberry Indians during a league match-up Friday, February 5.
Michael Ramelis Engadine
The Bulldogs have a busy week, with a home contest against DeTour Monday, February 8, at Pickford Wednesday, February 10, and a key SAC match-up at home with Cheboygan Friday, February 12. If Rudyard defeats the Chiefs, the teams will be tied for the conference lead.
Rudyard raced out to a 28-9 lead after the first eight minutes and held a 17-11 margin in the second quarter for a 45-20-halftime advantage.
The Bulldogs outscored the Newberry 41-22 in the second half, which included 25-17 in the third quarter and 16-5 in the final eight minutes.

Trojans Post Win Over Vikings;
Down Eagles in EUPC
A sluggish start for the Cedarville Trojans had the team trailing 12-0 before the offense took control to post a 73-58 nonconference road win over the Posen Vikings Wednesday, Febru ary 3. The Trojans posted a 77-32 Eastern Upper Peninsula Confer ence (EUPC) home win against the Engadine Eagles Friday, Feb ruary 5.
"It took us awhile to get going," said Trojans coach Dave Duncan.
Posen led 18-13 after the first eight minutes before the Trojans outscored the Vikings 23-8 in the second quarter for a 36-26-halftime lead.
The Vikings held an 11-9-scoring edge in the third quarter to slice the Trojans lead to 45-37, but Cedarville completed the nonleague win with a 28-21 advantage in the final eight minutes.

Cedarville improved their record to 6-0 in the EUPC and 11-3 overall and nine players scored for Coach Dave Duncan during the win over the Eagles.
The Trojans opened up play with a 24-12 lead after the first eight minutes and increased the margin to 43-23 at halftime with a 19-11 advantage in the second quarter.
Cedarville outscored Engadine 34-9 in the second half that included 15-3 in the third quarter and 19- 6 in the final eight minutes.

Trojans JV Goes 14-0
The Cedarville Trojans junior varsity remains undefeated at 14-0 after a 66-30 win over the Posen Vikings Wednesday, February 3, and a 76-42 decision against the Engadine Eagles Friday, February 5.

Eagles Post Third
Consecutive Win
The Engadine Eagles recorded their third consecutive win with a 66-29 non-conference home decision over the Alanson Vikings Tuesday, February 2.
"We started out slow, but picked up the tempo in the second half," said Eagles Coach Elmer Albright.
The Eagles took control with a 15-5 lead after the first eight minutes and held a 24- 14 advantage at halftime after both teams scored nine points in the second quarter.
Engadine outscored Alanson 42- 15 in the second half that included 19-4 in the third quarter and 23-11 in the final eight minutes.

Mackinac Island Drops Pair
The Mackinac Island Lakers boys squad fell to the Beaver Island Islanders 66-53 Friday, February 5, and 73-35 Saturday, February 6.
The Lakers trailed 34-26 at halftime and the Islanders held a 32-27- scoring edge in the second half.
